Self Discovery:
At Connections we believe that the authentic self, is the self that was created with the first touch of our Creator God. We were intended to live fully out of that first touch. But when the world touched our authentic selves with its sorrow, misuse and expectations we began a process that separated us from knowing who we were created to be. At Connections we also believe that it is possible to reconnect with our authentic selves. The recovery process is not just learning how to behave, it is about finding the freedom and the safety to live in the fullness of God’s first touch.
Mandalas are useful tools in helping us to re-connect with our authentic self. Mandalas are used to help us reflect upon and become aware of our inner thoughts and feelings.
Through the use of color, shapes, lines and a simple circle you will explore ways of looking at your process. You may be surprised by what you learn about your internal thoughts and feelings. Using colors in mandalas can be enlightening as it helps us to focus on the symbolic meanings of colors, and the way in which we develop our personal color vocabulary as a way to communicate information between our conscious and unconscious selves. The way we use color often reflects our personal history, our values, and the way our body and brain functions.
To get started:
Draw a circle similar to the one below (or print and use the
one below)
Play soft music as you work your mandala. It will help you
relax and get in touch with your inner process.
As the music plays, close your eyes for a few minutes.
